Baby Blankie

Making more gifts for a soon-to-be-born baby.

A very simple granny square. Just the right size for a car seat blanket that can transition into a "lovey" for a toddler!

Squishy, cushy and incredibly soft "mystery" yarn from a discounted mill-end.

A 9mm hook is the largest I have, but if I had bigger I definitely would have gone up to at least a 10mm.

Loved this little blankie soooo much that I even did a little "photo shoot" with it...

Ellie says it's as squishy and lovable as she is!

Thank you so much for stopping by :)

Baby Bonanza

Booties. Blanket. Beanies. Mmmm I love making baby stuff!!

My hubby asked me to make a little something to give to his boss's soon-to-be-born daughter. Seeing as I finally had my mojo back after months of it being on vacation, I obliged. After that, it was a just scrounge through my stash to see what I could possibly come up with! I jumped in and went crazy.

First, I started with a non-traditionally-coloured hat. A simple shell-stitch beanie inspired by the one at The Dainty Daisy. I unfortunately couldn't use her pattern to come out with a size I liked using this yarn, so I had to wing it! Finished it with a little frill along the edge to jazz it up. It wasn't enough, so I added a heart too :)

Then I (obviously!) needed to add some non-traditionally-coloured booties. I tried a Mary-Jane style, but after 3 attempts at different patterns I gave up and opted for a more traditional bootie instead.

I am so happy how these both turned out :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Who Do You Love?

Now, I know some people save V-Day for their significant other, but me and Hubby, well, just never really got into it as a routine kind of thing. Instead, I've always tried to set a little something out for the kiddo, just to remind her how much we love her :)

For full disclosure here, I didn't really have anything planned this year. I was literally going to go to the $ store the day of and give her a trinket-y gift when she came home from school. How sad is that? Luckily for me, I was writing about the owl purses when it struck me...

Make her a bag of her own!

And boy, did she ever like it :) I was going to try making an owl with hearts for eyes, but once I finished testing out the hearts, I realized I liked it just how it was!!!

I used the same inspirations I did for the owl bags, but put a valentine twist on it. The heart pattern comes from here, and is amazingly simple! Then I added a little frill along the top and it was done!

I tell you, all these recent projects have given me a new respect for the art of applique! It is so hard to sew everything on and not contort it and have a complete mess of stitches inside!!!

Owl Be Wishing...

You a Happy Birthday!

Well, unfortunately not you in particular, but instead the two little girls who are going to be receiving these as gifts this month:

Little owl purses to hold little girl things.

I am so tickled with these. There are a ton of these types of bags around to inspire a person to create. Like this, this, this and this! There's something about this little owl face slapped on the side of a teeny tiny girl's bag that just screams "oh-my-look-how-cute-that-is" and I definitely wanted to jump on that wagon!

These have been the funnest thing I've made for a long time. This project was certainly what brought the happy-to-have-a-hook-in-my-hand feeling back! Com'on, just look at those big white eyes... you're smiling, aren't you? Ya, I know you are!

So much happy, fun, creative energy flowing right now! Can't wait to show you more creations!

Thank you for stopping in and having a peek :) Hope it was a hoot!

Pokemon Brings my Mojo Back!

Oh, how I miss crafting.
Oh, how I miss crocheting.
Oh, how I miss the ability to have a shower without an hour of prep to get baby situated first...

Woe is me!!! (I tell ya, hubby will never be taken for granted again! His absence may not be "making my heart fonder," but it is surely making me miss the extra set of hands around here!!)

That said, I did, in fact, recently accomplish something. Nothing that I had planned to be hooking. Instead, it was something fantastic. Something totally fun and unplanned. Something actually liked by the little boy I made it for!!!
Behold, the Pokemon-Trainer-Wrist-Band-Poke-Ball-Holder-Thingy (I have no idea, this is coming from a boy obsessed with Pokemon, two things I know nothing about!!!) Party Favours:

I made red ones for the boys and pink ones were for the girls! But of course, I didn't plan on writing a post on these, so you only get a pic of the pink one my daughter received!!

They, surprisingly, turned out better than I had expected. It's a rare day when that happens! :) It's definitely given me my crocheting mojo again, and I have quite a few WIPs right now that I'll be sharing soon :) Yay!!!

Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to look at what everyone else is working on at Marni's, Beth's and Tami's!!!
